Security camera catches woman’s compassionate gesture toward a homeless dog

Human kindness is a beautiful thing.

Unbeknownst to many, stray animals often lead a harsh life on the streets. They struggle everyday to receive proper shelter, enough food and water for themselves while fending off any attacking animals or human threats.

However, there are still kind souls out there who are willing to place their selfishness aside for these poor animals. As proven by a single security camera, video footage had captured a female customer departing a café.

It was a cold and rainy day in Zonguldak, Turkey. As she stepped out and through the doorway, she noticed a stray dog all curled up in an effort to keep itself warm. That was the best refuge from the cold and rain the poor dog could have.

Rather than just walk on by like anyone else would on the streets, she decided to do something – at the expense of her own comfort. She covered the dog with her own scarf and then proceeded to head off once she decides that he was well-covered.

The scene was a quick one but it did not go unnoticed. The video footage was posted online, and it touched many hearts worldwide. “Humanity is not dead,” one news outlet praised the woman.

Someone even recognized the person in question — it was a woman named Duygu Elma.

Elma never expected all the praise she would garner just by gifting the stray dog her own scarf. Regretting that she was unable to offer more to the dog at that time, Elma knew that it was the right thing to do.

“I couldn’t imagine that my actions would receive this attention. I’m very surprised about it. The weather was so cold. I just couldn’t take it when I saw him shivering,” Elma said.

Although Elma’s encounter with the stray was a one-time event, Elma is optimistic that there would be other kind-hearted souls, who are also looking out for his well-being until he gets rescued from the streets and adopted.
