David Guindon suffered a stroke, and in 2014 he got a wonderful service dog, named Zeus, to help him with everyday tasks. But tragically, Zeus wandered away from his home in San Bernadino, California. David was devastated.
He called every police station, veterinarian office, and put up posters… but there was no sign of Zeus. David even hired a pet detective but the dog was nowhere to be found. But then a year and a half later, a woman tried to re-register Zeus’s microchip and David got a phone call from the company.
The microchip company asked David for permission to allow Zeus to be re-registered and of course, he said NO! David told them to call the woman back and have her surrender the dog, but she refused. David was understandably devastated.
Then, a week later, she had a change of heart. She agreed to surrender Zeus to a local shelter and then David could pick him up the next morning. David was SO excited! He couldn’t sleep the night before. Not one wink!
