Duke is such a regal name, but this dog was treated like anything other than royalty in his several years serving as a hunting dog. In Greece, that was his sole purpose, until he was of no use to his owner anymore.
He spent years chained up, other than the few days when he went hunting. Once his owner felt he’d served his purpose, he was left to pretty much starve. However, a ZEIL volunteer spotted him and got him help. He was treated in Athens for Dirofilaria.
He recovered completely and was then adopted by a family in Denmark.
Today he is a healthy and happy dog living with his forever family and his three adopted siblings. He is now named Charlie Duke, which just has a ring of happiness to it, right? Watch his entire story below!
