Shane Porter was out on the job working as a Georgia Power lineman as he had done for years. On most ordinary days, he gets his job done and heads home.
Today was far from ordinary, as Shane realized some work materials were left behind on a job site.
Porter was in the right place at the right time, as the moment he passed by a trash can, he discovered a litter of puppies.
He and a co-worker walked toward two of the puppies who got out and were running by a pond near a building.

“As I got my hands on this one a gentleman showed up behind us with this one in his hands wrapped up in a jacket and said he had just pulled all three of them out of the dumpster around the pond over there,” Porter shared. “He could only get his hands around this one. Those two ran off.”
They were able to corral the pups and coax the last one with a can of Vienna sausages. The three puppies, a boy and two girls fell asleep on the floorboard of Porter’s truck as they drove to a rescue center.

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia shared the news on Facebook. They wrote, “This morning, two Georgia Power linemen rescued three puppies out of a DUMPSTER in the freezing rain. They were covered in filth, their ribs protruding around their bloated bellies, and frightened beyond belief.”
They noted the pups had been through a lot in their short lives and are grateful for the workers who took the time to care and save their lives.
