Hero Teen Gave Depressed Shelter Dogs Hope By Hand-Making Hundreds Of These

One Utah teen is helping dozens of local homeless animals by giving them something they so desperately need: a warm, cozy bed.

The boy who stepped up to make their lives just a little bit better is Chance Call, a 17-year-old from Roy, Utah.

The teen thought of the idea for his Eagle Scout project; he wanted to help animals but wasn’t sure how.

He originally wanted to gather blankets for adoption groups. Eventually, though, he decided to make beds for the shelter dogs sleeping on concrete floors.

“I’ve always loved animals, I know shelters do their best, but sometimes it isn’t enough,” Call said via KUTV. “I heard about PVC dog beds and I decided to do some research.”

After passing out flyers, sending over 700 emails, and visiting local animal rescue organizations, Chance finally did it.

He raised more than $3,000 in donations to purchase the materials needed to make the dog beds.

Then, he and his friends spend four whole days making the PVC bed frames, cutting the fabric, and putting the beds together. After all of the hard work, he ended up building 150 dog beds for the Davis County Animal Shelter.

Now, the animals at the shelter will be able to feel more relaxed while they wait to go to their forever homes. Being alone and unloved is awful enough for the animals, but sleeping on the cold, hard ground just made everything worse. Thankfully, the Chance will deliver the beds to the shelter on April 1.

With willpower and dedication, this teen was able to bring so many homeless animals one step closer to being happy!
