There’s almost nothing worse than seeing a dog lying on the side of the road who was hit by a car. But thanks to an Iraq war veteran named Aaron Schneider, one dog got the help he needed to go on to a safe and healthy life.
While driving one day, Aaron Schneider, an Iraq war veteran, saw a dog who’d been hit by a passing car at 70 mph. He immediately pulled over and hurried across three lanes of traffic.

The kind man was able to get the dog over to the side of the road safely so he could call 911. They told him to wait for animal control to arrive. And he did… for three hours in the pouring rain. He realized he couldn’t wait around any longer and put together a makeshift stretcher to load the pup into the back of a friend’s truck.

“My combat lifesaver training kicked in and I’m thankful I was able to use it to help him,” Aaron said. “Having served in Iraq, you see a lot of loss, which is one of the reasons I was determined to see him make it.”

Buster ended up having broken ribs, a torn windpipe, and internal bleeding. But he would go on to make a full recovery. 🙂

And to make things even better, Aaron decided to take in Buster for good once the dog was able to leave the hospital. Amazing!
