Little Dog Walks Miles Every Day To Visit His Best Friend’s Grave

For seven beautiful years, a small dog named Fulmine shared every day with his best friend, Leonardo Sechi. The two lived a quiet life together in the Italian countryside — their days filled with simple joys, long walks, and endless affection.

“They were very close,” Leonardo’s daughter, Sara Sechi, told The Dodo. “They were always cuddling.”

But recently, their time together came to an end. After a long illness, Leonardo passed away — leaving Fulmine without the person he loved most in the world.

While Leonardo was in the hospital, Sara cared for the little dog. It was clear how much Fulmine missed his best friend.

“Every time a car passed, he would run to the gate, thinking it was my father coming home,” she said.

When Leonardo was finally laid to rest, Fulmine didn’t understand why he hadn’t come back. Still, the little dog refused to give up.

And somehow, he found a way to see him again.

The day after Leonardo’s funeral, Sara and her son went to the cemetery to bring flowers to his grave — and were stunned to find Fulmine already there, sitting quietly beside it.

No one had brought him. The small dog had walked nearly two miles on his own from the countryside, straight to the place where Leonardo now rested.

He seemed to understand that Leonardo, whom he’d not seen in weeks, was now here.

“I did not expect to find him there,” Sara said. “He hadn’t been at the funeral. I have no idea how he knew where to go.”

But Fulmine knew. Whether it was instinct, memory, or something deeper, he had found his way to his friend again.

Neighbors later told Sara they often saw the devoted dog traveling back and forth between home and the cemetery — visiting Leonardo’s grave every day.

“We think he goes there daily,” she said. “It’s one of those things without a real explanation.”

Sara likes to believe love led him there — or perhaps Leonardo himself did.

Today, Fulmine lives with Sara. They grieve together, comfort each other, and are slowly finding their way forward — keeping Leonardo’s spirit alive in their shared love.

“It makes me emotional to think about how much my father loved Fulmine, and how much Fulmine loves him,” Sara said. “It’s heartbreaking, but also beautiful. We’ll heal together — just like they would’ve wanted.”
