#17 Newfoundland – 9 Years

Newfoundlands live for around 9 years. Many families have been inspired to get this dog to play with their children because of the movie Peter Pan, where the children’s dog Nana was depicted as a Newfoundland.
These dogs are certainly up for the job, they are smart, they follow orders, and they have been bred to take care of kids. The main downside is their limited lifespan, which has forced many children into learning the facts about life and death sooner than some parents might have expected.
Still, just about everyone who owns a Newfoundland walks away happy with the time they had with their pet. This is a common theme with this list, when you truly love a dog, you wouldn’t trade the years you had together for a different dog with a longer lifespan.

#4 Landseer is not a breed, it’s a color of Newfoundland.
