#15 Chinese Shar-Pei – 9 Years
These days the Chinese Shar-Pei is in high demand because its wrinkles give it a cute and lovable appearance. Unfortunately, these wrinkles were originally selected by breeders because the dog was trained for use in dogfights, where the wrinkles added an extra layer of protection.
They were bred to survive fights, not to live for a long time. Today you can expect a newborn Chinese Shar-pei to live for 9 years. Eventually, it will be prone to issues with its elbows, hips, and knees. But while it’s in good health it will be a vigilant companion, with a strong drive to protect you as its owner. That’s why they are popularly used as guard dogs.

#4 Landseer is not a breed, it’s a color of Newfoundland.
