#3 Curly-Coated Retriever – 8 years
The Curly-Coated Retriever is more colloquially known as simply a Curly, and they’re a very easily recognized retriever breed with its mass of tight curls all over its body. Originally, the Curly was bred as a sport dog and a hunting companion, with a temperament that was suitable for bird hunting and the sounds of guns going off around it.
Like most retriever breeds, they’re extremely affectionate and laid back with their families, and will show loyalty to its owners. While they are extremely intelligent, they are animals that require new stimulation and will get bored when asked to do repetitive training tasks, which can make them difficult to train.
They’re the type of dog that will be loyal to you for life, even if their life expectancy is only 8 to 12 years. The Curly is often known to have health problems such as cardiac issues and cancer, which has greatly lowered its life expectancy as a breed.
