Dog Owners Being Warned After Razor Blades Are Found Hidden Inside Tennis Balls Left At Park

Anyone who owns a dog or walks pets are urged to be on high alert after finding tennis balls with razor blades stuffed inside of them at a popular dog park.

A UK woman was walking her dogs through Lyme Park located in the town of Stockport in Manchester less than a couple of weeks ago when her puppies picked up a seemingly harmless tennis ball that had been left there.

The Greater Manchester Police are now investigating the matter after the woman reported finding a brand new Stanley razor blade stuffed inside of the ball.

An image of the torn up tennis ball with the blade inside was posted to the Stockport Crime Watch Facebook page where it was noted that this was just one of several tennis balls the dog owner had found in the park that day.

There were other balls hidden in among the reeds at the end of the park where dogs love to go sniffing about, and it was clear that they were placed there to purposefully harm any curious dogs that happened upon them.

In the post, the puppy-owner was horrified at the potential harm her dogs could have sustained, saying “I can’t bear to think of the consequences…” Thankfully, though, her sweet pups weren’t injured before she discovered the razor blade.

The woman reported the awful act of animal cruelty to both the local police as well as the Lyme Park Rangers, in hopes that someone will catch the terrible person responsible. It’s the Facebook post, however, that will most likely lead to a greater awareness among local park goers of the affront, with well over 3,000 shares already just since it was posted a little over a week ago.

The original caption to the picture of the blade-stuffed ball read:

URGENT ATTENTION FOR DOG OWNERS WALKING THEIR DOGS IN LYME PARK, DISLEY.

This ball containing a new razor blade inside was picked up by my dogs in the reeds adjacent to the Knott car park at the far end of Lyme Park at 6.00 pm 24th May. It has been doctored by someone who evidently has malevolent intentions towards dogs. My puppies carried it back to the car and chewed it up. We found this vicious razor blade inside. The pond life responsible may use poison or there may be more doctored balls in the vicinity. The police and the rangers at Lyme have been informed and have assigned an incident number IML410822. Please let them know of any further developments.

Please be vigilant- my dogs just found this old ball set in the reeds hidden for them to find. I even threw it for them! I can’t bear to think of the consequences…

Unfortunately, this is neither an “unheard of” or strictly local incident, either.

Just this last April, there was another person on a war-path to deliberately hurt and kill dogs.

Both federal and state wildlife authorities were searching for a person they believed to be dispersing poisoned meat in popular wildlife and dog-walking areas in Wisconsin.

In addition to dead dogs, authorities had also discovered several other poisoned animal species, including weasels, coyotes, raccoons, and even a wolf, all of which had died horrible deaths from the despicable person’s hatred for helpless animals.

“The poison was found on the ground on public properties managed by the U.S. Forest Service and the Goodman Timber Co. Each dog died less than 30 minutes after ingesting the poisoned meat, according to the DNR.

Regional conservation warden David Zebro said one dog owner reported their pet was foaming at the mouth and had a seizure after eating the poison.

In all four cases where the dogs died, the poisoned meat was found in a road ditch, Zebro said. The DNR encourages dog owners to keep their pets on a leash when outside and keep them away from roadside ditches,” confirms a report from the Green Bay Press.

Unfortunately, no one has been able to identify the wicked person who left the razor-stuffed tennis balls at the park as of yet, but that won’t stop authorities and dog lovers from searching. If anyone knows of any further related incidents or has any information that can lead to the identification of these cruel individuals, they are urged to reach out to corresponding authorities about it.

For information on the poisonings in Wisconsin, you can either call or send a text to 1-800-847-9367. To report any information related to the case in the UK, you can either visit their website or call them at +44 161 872 5050.

Please don’t forget to share this information with anyone you know that loves, owns, or walks dogs!

Always be on alert when you are taking your dog out for a walk because, tragically, there are some hateful people in this world and it only takes one tiny moment when you aren’t paying attention for your dog to get something in its mouth that could be deadly.

We hope they catch the jerks soon.
