Livestock Dogs Hear A Sound In The Distance, Go From Play To Work In A Seconds

Fingal, King and Maple are 3 livestock guard dogs who take their job very seriously. But that doesn’t mean they are all work and no fun!

These Maremma-Great Pyrenees cross dogs know how to flip the switch between work and play, and they make it look oh-so easy!

In this video, we see a usual work day for this furry trio stationed in a snowy territory. When they sense that all is going okay with their wards, they loosen up and begin frolicking around in the snow.

Each of them takes turns to roll about to their heart’s content, until they hear an odd sound emanating from the other end of the field.

Being alerted by the sound of a potential threat, the dogs immediately put a pause to their snow party. Fingal and King protectively rush to check on the livestock.

While Maple hangs back to guard the remaining livestock, which includes her human who is busy recording this interesting turn of events!

Many predators are known to use decoy cries to ward off guard dogs and attack isolated livestock, so the splitting up technique of these dogs is very effective.

It’s incredible to see how these capable guard dogs set their priorities in order, but also never compromise on relaxing and living in the moment!
