First-Ever Dog-Friendly Cruise Launches in 2025

First-Ever Dog-Friendly Cruise Launches in 2025

Most people enjoy going on a nice relaxing vacation, but booking a getaway can be a challenge for dog owners. You either need to leave your pets behind and find someone to take care of them, or you can try to find a dog-friendly travel spot but options are usually pretty limited.

But starting next year, there will be a unique new opportunity to go on vacation with your beloved pet: the first-ever dog friendly cruise!

Cruise Tails and Expedia Cruises of West Orlando have partnered for the first-ever dog-friendly cruise, which will embark in November 2025 on Margaritaville at Sea’s Islander with 250 pet dogs on board.

“On this floating island vacation, you can unwind, enjoy the endless activities and entertainment, or just relax and soak up the sun,” Cruise Tails’ website reads. “No Bones about it, you’ll nibble this up!”

Pet dogs are rarely, if ever, allowed to board commercial cruise lines, with the exception of service animals, so this cruise is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for anyone who has ever dreamed of hitting the seas with their pet. Not only that, the whole cruise will be designed with dogs in mind: passengers will have a designated pet butler and private relief stations on their room balconies.

The cruise also promises to have many fun dog-friendly events and activities, from costume contests and an ’80s theme night to training sessions and seminars.

The dogs will be expected to follow certain safety and health protocols: they must be leashed in public and are not permitted in human dining areas. Dogs must also be up to date on their vaccinations and have a health check-up before boarding.

Many of the details, including the pricing, are yet to be announced. Anyone interested in taking part in the inaugural voyage next year are encouraged to inquire with Cruise Tails for future updates and information.
