Deaf & Scarred, She Wants A Family Who Will Only See Her Resilience

When this little one was put in Arianna’s arms, she knew immediately that this puppy was special.

She was covered in wounds and it wasn’t safe for her to stay in the shelter. Arianna brought her home and learned quickly that she was one of a kind.

Once she was in her foster home, the puppy now named Joan Jet, slept constantly on Arianna’s chest. Arianna’s body warmth and heartbeat soothed her– and she finally felt safe.

But still, Joan struggled. Her wounds were serious and being so young, her immune system was weak. Arianna was scared that she wouldn’t make it.

After a bad case of mange came and luckily went, Arianna knew something was still off about this little pup.

She wouldn’t wake up when her foster mom made loud noises. She didn’t tilt her head or move her ears when Arianna snapped her fingers.

Tests confirmed what Arianna already knew… the little pup was deaf. Still, she had a BIG personality. Especially when she slept soundly and woke up rearing to go!

In what seemed like a blink of an eye, Joan went from tiny pup to big girl. Despite her challenges, she is constantly happy.

Arianna is working with her daily to learn hand signals AND is willing to train her new parents too if she ends up with a home in the New York City area.

Arianna wants to find her that perfect family. She is full of energy and would make an excellent running partner. She says no matter where you are, Joan is right there with you.

While ALL dogs are special, Arianna believes Joan is a once-in-a-lifetime dog because of her incredible resilience and loving spirit.

She is still scarred from mange and her wounds, and she’s permanently deaf, but her “weaknesses” only make her that much more amazing.
