A sweet recently pregnant dog in Louisville, Kentucky was found shot and so badly beaten, rescuers did not think she would survive. Ocean Blue was taken to the hospital after someone hurt her and put a bullet in her leg.
When she was brought in to the hospital, she was in tremendous pain but still wanted to care for her one-month-old pups. Her front leg was swollen and shattered from the bullet, causing the dog to suffer.

At the hospital, it was discovered no one would pay for her medical bills, so she was transported back to a shelter. When a local animal welfare advocate learned of the case, she got involved.
“Just the agony that she was in and that she was sent home and that there were no groups that could come forth and help her,” Rebecca Eaves shared. “And it just, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t do anything.”

At the present time, the owner is being investigated while the dog and her litter are being cared for at Blue Pearl Vet Hospital in Louisville. The dog has been named Ocean Blue and vets are trying to determine if they can save her leg.
