Dogs howl to communicate, attract attention and announce their presence.
Dogs may also howl because they are responding to ambulance or police sirens. Believe it or not, these noises are on the same frequency level as their hearing.
So, when a dog howls at a siren, they are simply responding to their fellow helpers.
