You also are shortening your dog’s life if you choose not to spay or neuter them. Not only does spaying and neutering eliminate some common behavior issues, it also greatly lowers the risk of common cancers in dogs.

For instance, female dogs that are not spayed have a much higher chance of developing cancer in the mammary glands, and male dogs that are not neutered have a much higher chance of developing testicular cancer and prostatic disease.
