11. Avocado

Avocados are a real treat for humans. But can you give this delicious fruit to your canine companion? We’d say no.
Firstly, they can cause upset stomachs in some dogs, and if your pet ingests the pit, this could cause an obstruction. More importantly though, avocados contain a substance called persin and too much of it could actually be poisonous.
Persin is not only is it found in the fruit itself, it’s also in the leaves, bark and seed (which means if you grow avocados at home, you’ll need to keep your dog far away from the plants).
