12. Chocolate

No matter how much your dog begs for this sweet treat, please say no to him. Chocolate contains the stimulant caffeine, which can stay in a dog’s body a long time after he’s ingested it – as long as 72 hours.
Symptoms include extreme thirst, pacing the floor, excessive panting, shaking, diarrhoea and seizures.
Chocolate contains a compound called theobromine, which primarily affects the nervous system, cardiovascular system (the heart and circulation) and urination. In high enough doses, it can be toxic to any dog. Take heed!
