Apple cores are something that dogs can easily get into if you have a pup who loves to sniff out the garbage. Most people aren’t even interested in the core of the apple, and it goes uneaten. However, for dogs, an apple core can be dangerous.
Like many fruits that have pits and stones, the core of an apple contains traces of cyanide. When ingested, you dog can go into shock, have seizures and experience dizziness and difficulty breathing.
Not to mention, if swallowed whole, the core of the apple can cause an internal blockage. Make sure to dispose of apple cores safely so that your dog doesn’t get at it, and take your dog to the vet if they manage to get a hold of one.
