Feeding your dog a few salted table-scraps of chicken, or a potato chip here and there, isn’t going to cause a lot of detriment to your dog’s health. However, consistently feeding your dog salty foods on a regular basis can dehydrate them.

Dehydration is dangerous for any animal. If your dog happens to get into the salt shaker, an excess of salt can also cause a temperature, vomiting, and tremors in you dog.

In a severe case in which a dog has ingested a high level of salt, it can even cause death. If you suspect your dog has gotten into the salt, make sure to take them to the vet to get checked out.
